While diversity is cited as a top value by almost every organisation lately, people with disabilities often are overlooked or under-supported. Very few organisations include initiatives for hiring people with disabilities. And many don't consider whether their policies and practices are making it harder than necessary for people with disabilities to participate fully.
In many workplaces, people are typically hired based on their ability to conform to the "standard fit". This often leaves out people who have unique abilities that could contribute great value to an organisation. As a result, these people are missing out on opportunities, and we as a society are missing out on their full potential and a great source of talent. So why not embrace diversity and create an inclusive workplace that truly welcomes everyone?
At this SHRI #SocialHR Series, "Embracing Diversity โ Disability Inclusion in the Workplace" in collaboration with TomoWork, you will hear our speakers share more insights about hiring people with disabilities and guides to working with them. Participants will also get to learn about a structured HR programme for special educational needs students and have the opportunity to sign up for interest in working with interns in this programme.
